Man Reflects on Surviving Home Collapse

In the face of devastation caused by Hurricane Milton, George Bustillo displayed unimaginable strength and courage. Pinned down as his home collapsed around him, he found the strength to persevere. Recalling the terrifying moment, he reflected, “It was one second, explosion. Everything goes into the house, all the windows, everything. All the force of that tornado comes in, and the next second, the whole roof collapses on me and I’m pinned.” Through sheer grit and the help of compassionate neighbors, he was able to escape from the rubble. Despite losing his home and treasured possessions, like his beloved Harley-Davidson, George remains grateful for the gift of life. “I have scratches and bruises, and everything hurts. But I’m alive. My wife is alive, and my dog’s alive. I’m a lucky man”.
